OFFICAL SUMMARY: Sailor Moon and her four Sailor Scouts (Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter) must save the Planet and her best friend Darien (Mamoru) from the most evil and dangerous creature in the Universe; the bewitching and deadly, Kisenian Blossom. She appears as a beautiful, tiny flower, but looks can be deceiving!
Kisenian, traveling from a far away galaxy disguised as a meteor, aims to gather all the 'positive' energy from Earth and plant the seeds of 'negativity' leaving the Earth full of hatred. But she cannot do it on her own. Kisenian preys on the vulnerable heart of Darien's (Mamoru's) childhood friend, Fiore. Fiore, jealous of Sailor Moon and Darien's passionate friendship, joins Kisenian in her wicked endeavor to gather energy from every star and planet. Can the magic of Sailor Moon's Crystal and Speter protect all of mankind from Kisenian's evil plan? Is she strong enough to save the Earth and her loved ones? Or will she be forced to choose between them?
MY SUMMARY: Sailor Moon R: Promise of the Rose (SMR) is the typical Sailor Moon feature. Save Earth from some evil villain and bring peace back to the world. So what makes this movie worth my time to review? Well, this move, like expected, is all about how the Sailor Scouts (Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus) have to save Mamoru and Earth from a very dangerous creature called Kisenian Blossom. The basic gist of the movie is that Fiore, an old friend of Mamoru had promised him that he would bring flowers back for him since Mamoru gave him a red rose. So in Fiore's travels he found a flower that he describes as the most beautiful flower ever and when he picked it from the floating rock in space he vowed revenge on Earth for leaving his friend Mamoru all alone. The flower he picked was a wicked very powerful monster called Kisenian Blossom. Fiore then starts to attack Earth by sending a energy sucking plant down to Earth surface. While walking to school the morning after the plant landed on Earth Rei senses the plants evil energy and runs to the area in which it is. An battle then starts and Fiore makes and appearance and in a attempt to kill Sailor Moon he injures Tuxedo Kamen (Mask) and takes him away to heal him. The Sailor Scouts then find where Fiore is and teleport there and fight against his minions. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus all get captured by Fiore and he tries to get Sailor Moon to hand over her Wand, or lose her pals. Moon gives up not wanting her friends to get hurt. This affects Fiore and he staggers back and the scouts are let free. Kisenian then merges with Fiore taking a stronger hold on him and goes after Moon. At the instance where Moon would have been killed by Fiore Tuxedo interferes and sends a rose in his heart. He fades away then comes back and tries to take Usagi's moon crystal when she goes to use it to redirect the hunk on rock they are on from hitting Earth. Usagi then tells him about how she met Mamoru and this heals Fiore and he disappears once again. Still trying to redirect the land mass the other senshi and Mamoru help Usagi and the land mass misses Earth but at the cost of Usagi's own life. Fiore then appears to Mamoru and gives him his life energy through the nectar of The Friendship Flower. This revives Sailor Moon and the movie ends with a happy ending. The movie itself flows well until the near end when all the scouts remember how they became friends with Usagi. The problem with these scenes is they are mostly made up. Makoto's and Ami's are the only ones that are sort of in the series or even make sense. Rei's and Minako's are completely made up and to tell you the truth Minako's is pretty messed up. Another aspect of SMR that took off the half of a star would be that during the movie there is a part where Sailor Moon is barely conscious and her legs are spread apart and her arms are wide open to her sides. Fiore, the pawn of Kisenian Blossom, goes to attack her but Tuxedo Kamen (Mask) throws his Red Rose at Fiore's heart and this causes Fiore to miss which was fine but the only problem with the scene is that now Sailor Moon's legs are together and when they pull back again Sailor Moon's legs are apart once more. This was a flaw that should have been caught. Other than simple little errors that would annoy any true moonie SMR is an overall great movie and is definitely a must see for all Sailor Moon fans. Even the cut version is just as good.
